Tata Communications’ Digital Fabric to Power ERM’s Global Communications Infrastructure

Tata Communications, the leading global communications technology player, today announced a multi-year partnership with ERM (Environmental Resources Management), the world’s largest specialist sustainability consultancy, to transform ERM’s global communications infrastructure across its worldwide network of offices spanning 40 countries and territories.

The alliance is built on a shared conviction: Technology, when designed with purpose, is one of the most powerful enablers of measurable sustainability outcomes. Tata Communications will deploy its innovative digital fabric — comprising Wide Area Network (WAN) and SD-WAN that leverages Cisco Meraki, managed security services, Unified communications & collaboration (UCC), managed Wi-Fi & LAN and end-to-end Managed Services — to transform ERM’s global network, delivering unprecedented operational efficiency, resilience and potential sustainability gains.

The key benefits for ERM include:

  • Energy-Efficient Infrastructure: Intelligent hardware that adjusts power consumption dynamically, entering low-energy modes during off-peak periods.
  • Cloud-First Operations: Centralised, remote management that reduces on-site interventions and associated travel emissions.
  • Hardware Elimination: Virtualising network functions to minimise equipment lifecycle impact.
  • Real-Time Energy Insights: Advanced monitoring tools to optimise energy use and continuously improve performance.

Further efficiency will be achieved through server consolidation, Cloud virtualisation, and dynamic resource scaling — ensuring power is consumed only when needed. Tata Communications’ Managed Security Services — featuring Zero Trust architecture and audit-readiness capabilities — will also strengthen ERM’s data protection. By consolidating and simplifying ERM’s communications networks, Tata Communications will significantly reduce operational complexity and costs.

Amit Mehrotra, Vice-President and Head of UK & Ireland at Tata Communications, added: “By delivering secure, scalable, and energy-optimised digital infrastructure, we are partnering with ERM through a shared purpose. We are delighted to announce this partnership and look forward to exploring together further the potential for technology to deliver sustainability impact.”

Thomas Achhorner, Chief Information Officer at ERM said: “Our clients expect solutions that are sustainable by design. With Tata Communications’ technology, we can operate more efficiently, benefitting from best-in-class capabilities that are setting a new standard for sustainable information technology.”
