Singtel launches its 5G+ Mobile Workspace powered by Ericsson’s Enterprise Virtual Cellular Network (EVCN)

Ltd signing the ‘Powering the future of work: From office to everywhere with Singtel 5G+’ MOU at GovWare 2025

Employees, particularly in hyper-connected Singapore, where 76% of employers have adopted hybrid work arrangements, are increasingly using cloud-based, AI-driven agentic applications—heightening concerns about connectivity, security, and IT complexity for enterprises.

To help meet this challenge, Singtel’s 5G+ Mobile Workspace, powered by the Ericsson Enterprise Virtual Cellular Network (EVCN) solution, is bridging the gap between 5G telecom networks and enterprise IT – combining devices, data plans and lifecycle management into a single, seamless offering.

As a connectivity management platform, EVCN merges 5G network capabilities with IT, enabling AI-driven business transformation by provisioning eSIMs at scale, managing 5G connections, and securing 5G laptops for hybrid workforces.

By delivering a single pane of glass for connectivity management, EVCN simplifies operations and reduces total cost of ownership. Ericsson research suggests zero-touch provisioning can save IT teams up to 90% of onboarding time. When enterprises transition from the traditional hardware heavy and site focused network infrastructure to an infrastructure light 5G set-up, the total cost of ownership can reduce up to 50% for an enterprise.

“This collaboration with our long-term partner Singtel marks a major milestone in our vision of infrastructure light enterprise IT.”, said Sebastian Tolstoy, Ericsson Head of EVCN. “With EVCN, we are putting the power of public 5G directly into the hands of enterprise IT, enabling zero-touch device management at scale — powering more simplified, secure, and cost-effective operations.”

In 5G+ Mobile Workspace, EVCN enables each device to be pre-configured with Singtel’s 5G+ eSIM during production, ensuring laptops connect securely straight out of the box. The intelligent management platform then automatically activates 5G connectivity based on company policies, enabling secure, responsive and data-aware computing regardless of location.

Importantly, EVCN empowers IT teams in their ability to remotely manage devices, monitor usage and optimize employee experience throughout the 5G laptop’s lifecycle. These centralized management capabilities include:

  • Procuring and provisioning eSIMs remotely
  • Switching users between public, private and Wi-Fi networks
  • Adjusting data packages and policies on demand
  • Pausing and terminating subscription
  • Monitoring performance e.g. signal strength on laptops

An industry milestone for the Singaporean enterprise, 5G+ Mobile Workspace delivers flexible, secure and cost-efficient real-time communications, enabling secure, AI-ready computing at scale. All without the need for additional investment in discrete infrastructure or interfaces.

As long-term partners, Ericsson remains committed alongside Singtel towards accelerating digital transformation and to sustain Singapore’s leadership in secure, AI-powered enterprise IT.

“5G+ Mobile Workspace embodies the win-win proposition we are excited to drive with EVCN. Empowering communication service providers to improve monetization models through differentiated connectivity, while addressing a real business need for enterprises in today’s hybrid work environment,” added Tolstoy.
