OQ Technology Granted Official Luxembourg Government Concession for Satellite-Based 5G IoT & Direct-to-Device Services Globally

Luxembourg, [Date] — OQ Technology, a Luxembourg-based pioneer in satellite 5G Internet of Things (IoT) and Direct-to-Device (D2D) connectivity, is proud to announce that it has received an official government concession from the State of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, marking a historic step in Europe’s advancement of 5G Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN).

The concession, issued by H.E. Elisabeth Margue, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister for Media and Connectivity, authorizes OQ Technology to deploy and operate satellite-based 5G networks providing direct-to-device (D2D) and IoT connectivity. These systems will allow regular 5G smartphones and NB-IoT devices to connect seamlessly via satellite, without the need for custom hardware or terrestrial infrastructure, extending reliable connectivity to remote and underserved regions worldwide.

“Receiving this concession is a major milestone for OQ Technology and for Luxembourg’s space-tech ecosystem,” said Omar Qaise, CEO of OQ Technology. “It empowers us to deliver reliable, secure, and ubiquitous

connectivity directly to devices, helping industries and communities benefit from next-generation 5G IoT services.”

H.E. Elisabeth Margue, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister for Media and Connectivity, welcomed the milestone: “Luxembourg is committed to supporting technological innovation that brings tangible added-value to the Luxembourg space ecosystem. Satellite-based connectivity solutions, such as those being developed in Luxembourg by OQ Technology, have the potential to improve access to digital services in remote areas and contribute to the resilience of our communication infrastructure. By ensuring that spectrum is used efficiently and in the interest of society, we aim to foster a space and telecom ecosystem that serves national priorities, broader European ambitions and customers worldwide.”

H.E. Elisabeth Margue visited OQ Technology’s headquarters to acknowledge the achievement and engage with the team behind the project.

This concession formally positions Luxembourg as one of the first European countries to authorize 5G NTN and D2D operations, granting OQ Technology the regulatory rights to operate its satellites using its priority ITU filings under internationally coordinated frequencies and orbits. At a time when direct-to-device connectivity is emerging as one of the most transformative frontiers in

telecom, this step provides OQ Technology with a strategic and regulatory advantage in scaling its global network.

OQ Technology remains committed to advancing Luxembourg’s leadership in space-based 5G IoT innovation, promoting international collaboration, and enabling the next generation of direct-to-device connectivity for smartphones and IoT devices alike.
