GNM-IX Breaks Record at 10Tbps

A new data throughput record has been set at GNM-IX, the carrier-neutral Internet Exchange operated by GNM.

For the first time, more than 10 terabits per second (Tbps) of data flowed over the IX this month.

“Reaching 10 Tbps peak traffic at GNM-IX is not just about capacity – it demonstrates the trust that networks put in GNM-IX,” said Alex Surkov, Head of Business Development at GNM. “Every new peer, every port upgrade, and every route exchanged contributes to the resilience and efficiency of the exchange. This milestone underlines that GNM-IX is ready for the Internet’s future growth”.

10 Tbps is equivalent to transferring around 12 billion photos or enough for 2.5 million people to watch an HD film at once.

GNM-IX now interconnects over 650 networks across 80+ Points of Presence, supported by the operator’s 20 000km DWDM backbone. Traffic on the platform continues to grow steadily, driven by rising demand for cloud services, gaming, video streaming and AI workloads.
