Thailand is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, welcoming over 35 million visitors annually. This is driving a significant need for real-time translation between English and Thai during phone calls. This year, AIS Thailand partnered with Huawei to deploy New Calling networks and introduced the first AI Calling product: English-Thai simultaneous interpretation. This innovative service is especially valuable during emergency calls, business negotiations, ride hailing, and meal ordering.
The service features two key benefits. First, it functions seamlessly within regular voice calls, working even on terminals that do not support video calls, like feature phones. Second, thanks to Huawei’s Single Voice Core architecture, the service works reliably on all mobile network generations, from 2G to 5G, making AI-powered simultaneous interpretation accessible to everyone.
Noppadon Poungsri, Head of Mobile Core Network Planning & Operation at AIS, said AI transformation is a key strategy of AIS, and the company is actively leveraging AI to empower and enhance the quality of its products and services. The development of AI-powered call services plays a crucial role in boosting the value of call services. He said AIS has integrated AI capabilities into its call service and launched a real-time translation service in this year. Additionally, this year AIS is enhancing AI calling use cases such as quick note-taking, virtual business cards that can be sent during calls, and the addition of entertainment sounds to calls.
Yousuf, President of the CS&IMS Domain of Huawei Cloud Core Network Product Line, emphasized that Huawei and AIS have jointly launched the first commercial AI Calling network in Southeast Asia. This deployment greatly improves user experience and communication efficiency while supporting the operator in its AI transformation strategy. Huawei AI Calling solution empowers operators to revitalize dial pads, establish an entry point for AI services, and transform communication services into intelligent and personalized offerings. This creates new value for users, and paves a new pathway towards success in business.
