Ericsson accelerates AI innovation and industrialization for OSS/BSS

Ericsson announces availability of a wide range of AI-powered enhancements to its evolved Business and Operations Support Systems (OSS/BSS) portfolio, and the launch of new collaborative initiatives in AI with close partners. Powered by Ericsson’s unique depth and breadth of experience, telecoms knowledge and insights in OSS/BSS and other domains, the enhancements to the portfolio will equip CSPs with telco-specific intelligence in OSS/BSS, accelerating the journey towards intent-driven operations and autonomous networks leveraging Gen-AI and Agentic AI.

Ericsson and AWS Gen-AI Lab

Ericsson and AWS are launching the Gen-AI Lab for communication service providers (CSPs) worldwide. The Gen-AI Lab is a groundbreaking global program designed to fast-track AI innovation in OSS/BSS for CSPs. Through a structured, outcome-driven approach, the Lab uses Ericsson’s expertise and OSS/BSS portfolio, and the AI platform capabilities of AWS (such as Amazon Bedrock) and cloud services, to empower CSPs to solve OSS/BSS challenges with Generative AI, turning ideas into reality at unprecedented speed. Grameenphone is the first CSP globally to use the Lab, and has created an innovative, Agentic-AI led solution to introduce automation and efficiency to a previously manual and time-consuming product catalog migration task.

Ericsson Telco Agentic AI Studio

In addition to the new Lab, Ericsson is also launching the Telco Agentic AI Studio, a pioneering platform aimed at automating and accelerating Gen-AI application development. With an intent-driven approach and Agentic AI capabilities, Telco Agentic AI Studio empowers developers to rapidly create, tailored Gen-AI solutions for CSPs. The studio is built on the Amazon Bedrock platform. The Telco Agentic AI Studio offers a flexible, multi-HCP, cloud-agnostic, hybrid execution environment, rendering it an invaluable tool for transforming Gen-AI concepts into dynamic applications.

Ericsson Telco IT AI Apps

AI and Automation are the driving force behind the impactful products and solutions within Ericsson’s OSS/BSS portfolio. Today, AI capabilities are already natively present in Ericsson OSS/BSS products and are further augmented by Ericsson Telco IT AI Apps.

Ericsson Telco IT AI Apps offers more than 20 cloud-native AI and Gen-AI applications that enhances Ericsson OSS/BSS products across core commerce, service orchestration, monetization, data and analytics, and managed services IT. Some examples of Ericsson’s Gen-AI applications are the Product Configuration Assistant, Network Insights Assistant, Operations Intelligent Assistant, Product Information Assistant and Guided Selling (Configure, Price, Quote CPQ Assistant). Many of these Gen-AI applications leverage multi-agent AI system to solve complex task and automate decision-making, fully harnessing the power of this technology to improve the OSS/BSS portfolio. In addition to the ongoing adoption of AI into its portfolio, Ericsson is also able to deliver tailored AI and Gen-AI applications to CSPs. Ericsson Telco IT AI Engine

The driving force behind Ericsson’s innovative OSS/BSS focused AI and Gen-AI applications is the robust Telco IT AI Engine which includes features to handle operations, orchestration and coordination of AI tasks and processes, security and ethical considerations, and managing data storage and retrieval efficiently. It has been developed with purpose to combine Ericsson expertise and technology with telecom knowledge sources, including TM Forum (TMF) and 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) standards to ensure ease of use and reliability for CSPs.
