New data halls add 1.5MW of capacity and 280 cabinet-ready positions to Omaha’s premier interconnection hub
OMAHA – June 11, 2025– 1623 Farnam, a regional leader in network-neutral edge interconnection and data center services, announces the completion of a major facility expansion at its flagship, carrier-neutral data center in Omaha this month. The project, which adds the facility’s final two data halls, brings an additional 1.5MW of IT capacity and 280 cabinet-ready positions online — answering growing demand from customers across cloud, AI, content and broadband markets.
Driven by customer growth and increasing need for high-performance interconnection, 1623 Farnam accelerated the project timeline to bring the expansion online in the first half of 2025. The newly completed data halls are now ready for customer move-ins.
“1623 Farnam continues to invest in our state-of-the-art facility, creating additional capacity that enables ecosystem-rich clients to enter and expand within the building — ultimately creating more value for everyone in the facility,” said Bill Severn, President and CEO of 1623 Farnam. “We’re seeing significant demand from AI workloads, edge deployments, content platforms and broadband networks that rely on our central, highly connected location to solve east-west and north-south latency challenges. This expansion ensures we’re ready to meet that demand — both for our existing customers and new entrants to the market.”
As a central hub for the Omaha IX and a key interconnection point for the Midwest, 1623 Farnam serves a diverse ecosystem of cloud, content, carriers and enterprise customers. The expansion supports a growing wave of edge deployments, AI-driven applications and low-latency digital services seeking scalable, high-density infrastructure in the region.
The added capacity will also continue to attract new network, content and broadband players, enriching the broader ecosystem and delivering additional value to tenants already in the building.
Key highlights of the expansion include:
- Completion of the facility’s final two data halls
- 1.5MW of new IT capacity
- Space for 280 additional cabinets
“Explore 1623 Farnam and you’ll see just how valuable this location can be for solving critical deployments that require high connectivity, low latency and a content and broadband-rich ecosystem,” added Severn.
As edge computing, AI and distributed architectures continue to reshape the digital landscape, 1623 Farnam remains committed to supporting its customers with scalable space, robust interconnection options and unmatched regional reach.
