Washington, D.C. (May 9, 2025) – Today, USTelecom released a new policy roadmap for America’s AI leadership. The message is simple: the future of AI depends on the strength of America’s fiber broadband infrastructure. The roadmap offers several policy proposals to empower broadband providers as they seek to connect everyone in America to this revolutionary technology, including:
- Reduce barriers to deployment and unlock funding for rural broadband expansion
- Enact smart, national, light-touch AI policies to overcome a fractured state-level regulatory regime
- Seek public-private collaboration on standards development
USTelecom’s President and CEO Jonathan Spalter introduced the roadmap in a blog post today, emphasizing that, “next-generation AI applications—from data-rich models powering national security to personalized healthcare and smart cities—demand ultra-fast, low-latency, super secure and scalable networks.”
