South Boston, Virginia – April 30, 2025 – Mid-Atlantic Broadband Communities Corporation (MBC), a leading provider of open-access, wholesale fiber optic infrastructure in Southern Virginia, has established a new Point of Presence (POP) at the Globalinx data center in Virginia Beach. This connection within the carrier-neutral data center provides MBC customers direct access to subsea and terrestrial fiber networks, enhancing connectivity into Virginia Beach and beyond.
This expansion strengthens the connectivity backbone of the RVA757 megaregion – a dynamic corridor linking Richmond and Virginia Beach – and supports the region’s growth as a Global Internet Hub. MBC’s unique fiber route between the QTS data center in Richmond and the Globalinx facility in Virginia Beach was built south of the James River, offering diverse and reliable 100G and 400G optical transport services.
“Adding a second POP in Virginia Beach at the Globalinx data center expands our network’s reach and supports economic growth in Southern Virginia,” said Tad Deriso, President & CEO of MBC. “This connection improves our network’s capacity and performance while creating new opportunities for our carrier customers to connect with global networks.”
The Globalinx facility, located in the Corporate Landing Business Park, connects subsea cables and terrestrial fiber networks. Its carrier-neutral design offers flexible connectivity options for telecom carriers and other providers.
“We are excited to welcome MBC to our growing network ecosystem,” said Greg Twitt, Founder and President of Globalinx. “Their fiber infrastructure adds significant value for customers seeking reliable and diverse connections to regional and international destinations.”
The connection is now live, and 100G and 400G circuit options are available to MBC customers. Visit the MBC website or contact MBC to learn more.
