Juniper Networks and Partners Demonstrate Quantum Safe Solutions Between Data Centers and AWS

Juniper and partners form open ecosystem focused on delivering secure data center-to-cloud connectivity with quantum-safe encryption and advanced cyber defense

SUNNYVALE, Calif., – May 22, 2025 – Juniper Networks, (NYSE: JNPR), LuxQuantalyntia and Merqury Cybersecurity today announced that they have partnered to demonstrate a private quantum-secured connection between on-premises data centers and Amazon Web Services (AWS). The four companies are part of a broader initiative designed to protect critical data transmissions against future quantum-enabled cyber threats. By successfully combining lyntia’s infrastructure, LuxQuanta’s Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) systems, Merqury’s key management solutions and Juniper’s AI-Native security portfolio, the initiative demonstrates the practicality and ease of deployment of quantum-resistant networks today.

“Juniper is dedicated to driving innovation and securing data center connections against evolving threats. By working with these key partners, AWS customers can benefit from cutting-edge quantum technologies that enhance network resiliency,” said Raj Yavatkar, Chief Technology Officer at Juniper Networks. Added Sebastian Etcheverry, Chief Technology Officer at LuxQuanta, “Our initiative, in collaboration with AWS, advances the implementation of secure communications to cloud users, marking a crucial step toward scalable, resilient quantum security solutions.”

Working together to create quantum-resistant solutions

Data centers have been classified as critical national infrastructure by governments around the globe, including the U.S., the U.K., Germany and the European Union. Reacting to increasing threats from improvements in quantum technology, this collaboration showcases the ability of quantum-resistant solutions to protect sensitive data, enabling long-term security for businesses, governments and citizens.

The demonstration, conducted at the AWS Direct Connect location in Madrid, Spain, connects multiple data centers through a quantum-secured, point-to-multipoint quantum network design. The architecture includes dynamic routing within Iyntia’s backbone fiber network, which creates a realistic production scenario with staging traffic from lyntia’s management and inventory monitoring systems. LuxQuanta’s Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) systems integrate with Juniper Networks’s encryption technologies to protect lyntia’s optical metro network, while Merqury Cybersecurity’s Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) solutions are applied to further secure cloud connectivity and create a comprehensive, multi-layered defense strategy for critical cloud data.

“With access to advanced quantum security features, we can enhance the security of our customers’ communications. This collaboration allows us to implement robust encryption systems with confidence, ensuring that our customers’ data remains protected and resilient against the evolving cybersecurity challenges of the future,” said Eduardo Duato, Chief Technology and Innovation Officer at lyntia. Added Dr. Noel Farrugia, Chief Technology Officer at Merqury Cybersecurity, “This collaboration marks a big step forward in showing how quantum technologies can be integrated into real-world telecom infrastructure. By combining expertise from different partners, we’ve taken theoretical security concepts and made them practical. This is an important milestone in Merqury’s mission to build future-ready, quantum-secure communication systems.”
