[Barcelona, Spain, March 4, 2025] Huawei and industry partners took home the GSMA Foundry Excellence Awards at MWC Barcelona 2025. Richard Cockle, Head of GSMA Foundry, said that the award recognizes Huawei’s contributions to the industry and its innovation in multiple areas, especially with regards to revolutionizing experience monetization, and supporting industry collaboration.

While 5G networks are scaling up globally, traditional traffic monetization approaches are too similar to each other to bring operators economic benefits. They are not keeping up with the latest user requirements. To address the challenges, in 2024, Huawei and over 10 industry partners jointly set up the Intelligent Packet Core GSMA Foundry project. Through initiatives like use case releases, white paper rollouts, and online summits, they successfully delivered the project and fostered industry cooperation. With the Intelligent Packet Core, operators address the three main challenges: experience assessment, network optimization, and experience monetization. The aim is to provide users with brand-new experience privileges, such as guaranteed service experiences during live streaming, video conferencing, and HD video services, achieving closed-loop experience monetization.
All parties in the project put in tremendous efforts. Base on intelligent Packet Core, Huawei build the Intelligent Personalized Experience (IPE) solution, offering an NWDAF-centered intelligence plane for the core network. Using multi-modal data and large models, IPE focuses on the awareness of services, users, and networks. It also offers a MyLogo feature that turns a network identifier on a phone’s status bar into an experience monetization entry. This enables real-time and dynamic guarantee of user experiences and helps operators reshape their business models. This solution has been put into large-scale commercial use in multiple pioneer provinces in China, helping operators make premium experience packages.
GSMA Foundry is the go-to hub for cross-industry collaboration and business development, unleashing the value of connectivity. It brings together GSMA members and telecom industry partners to quickly develop real-world solutions to industry challenges, to nurture new ideas through commercial trials, and to scale proven solutions globally, shaping a more digital future.
Mr. Wu explained, “The key technologies for network intelligence have been put into large-scale commercial use, signaling the beginning of experience monetization. We hope that more partners will help build the intelligent packet core network ecosystem to help the industry prosper and win the future.”
