Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) partners with Ericsson to create the world’s first 5G-powered mobile workspace solution

Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB), Malaysia’s national 5G network operator, has taken a significant step forward by deploying Ericsson’s Enterprise Virtual Cellular Network (EVCN) at its Kuala Lumpur headquarters, making the organisation the first in the world to create a 5G-first office environment. Equipped with 5G-enabled laptops managed through EVCN and integrated with Microsoft Intune, Entra ID, and DNB’s 5G network, DNB employees will be able to enjoy secure and seamless mobile work connectivity.

As part of its broader national digitalisation efforts, DNB is committed to replacing traditional Wi-Fi with 5G as the primary service to enhance security, efficiency, and scalability.  DNB plans to collaborate with mobile network operators (MNOs) to extend EVCN as a service for enterprises and government agencies across Malaysia.

Benefits – Better security, efficiency and user experience

By integrating Ericsson’s EVCN with DNB’s nationwide 5G network as well as services offered by mobile network operators, enterprises can now use 5G as their own secure, cost-effective and low-maintenance network with private and programmable access. This transformation brings several key benefits:

  • Mobility and Improved User Experience – Enjoy seamless and consistent user experiences on 5G-enabled laptops
  • Enhanced Security & IT Control – 5G eliminates traditional Wi-Fi vulnerabilities while providing IT administrators with greater visibility and control over device connectivity.
  • Operational Efficiency & Cost Savings – Simplified network management and large-scale device setup reduce the need for old infrastructure, cutting down on expenses.
  • Seamless Cloud Integration – Enterprises get a modern, flexible, and scalable IT environment that supports digital transformation and business agility.
Growing Enterprise Adoption

DNB’s adoption of EVCN highlights its potential to reshape enterprise IT. As the solution evolves, together with the service providers, DNB is looking to expand into business and government sectors, supporting Malaysia’s digital transformation goals. By consolidating IT infrastructure within a 5G-based model, DNB is priming to strengthen its market position, offering enterprises a future-ready, cloud-native IT solution.

Datuk Azman Ismail, CEO of DNB stated: “At Digital Nasional Berhad, we are redefining the future of enterprise IT by leveraging our globally-recognised 5G network and Ericsson’s EVCN technology. The world-first 5G secure office environment implemented at DNB’s HQ demonstrates the power and potential of 5G to revolutionise enterprise IT. This collaboration is not just about enhancing connectivity, it’s about driving Malaysia’s digital transformation forward, enabling enterprises and government organizations to embrace secure, scalable, and agile solutions that will shape the next generation of business operations.”
