In the bustling city of Barcelona, where historic streets hum with stories of old, the eagerly awaited Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 is set to take place. From March 3 to 6, tech giants and innovative start-ups will gather as thousands come to explore the latest advancements in connectivity. Ericsson will showcase its next-gen network solutions, featuring high-performing, programmable networks that are sustainable, AI-powered, and secure.

Building on its recent launches of 5G Advanced software and next-generation hardware, Ericsson’s largest business area, Networks, will demonstrate innovations for high-performing, programmable, secure, sustainable, and open networks. MWC participants will learn how these solutions are transforming connectivity, maximizing the value of 5G, and unlocking business opportunities within a dynamic and open ecosystem.
The four main themes of Ericsson Networks at the event are: radio access network (RAN) evolution, monetization, operational efficiency, and security.
RAN Evolution
Visitors will be guided through optimal investments for best performance, lowest total cost of ownership and leading sustainability. Highlights will include the launch of seven new radios, showcasing a global portfolio of FDD Massive MIMO as well as new ultralight radios, and advanced Interleaved Antennas, which enhance performance while reducing rental cost and energy use. Proof points include the flagship radio AIR 3266 which has 50 percent lower embodied carbon footprint.
The new product line, RAN Connect, will feature three new products leveraging compute power in RAN Compute and open fronthaul. With the company embracing openness, MWC attendees can explore Ericsson’s ultralight Open RAN-ready radios and Massive MIMOs from all angles, including ports, cooling fins, and frequency bands. Ericsson will also display partnerships in Cloud RAN and third-party Open RAN radio collaborations.
Monetization and 5G Advanced
Visitors will discover how 5G Advanced can transform businesses. Ericsson’s immersive glass tunnel will feature augmented reality (AR), automotive and transport, localization-based positioning, and live broadcasting. These experiences highlight how 5G Advanced can drive business growth and make high-performing, programmable networks a reality today. Additionally, monetization use cases for indoor 5G deployments will be featured, demonstrated through a live multi-operator indoor setup.
Operational Efficiency and AI Integration
Ericsson’s focus on operational efficiency will be showcased through AI-driven features and energy performance solutions. Demonstrating RAN automation and management, the Network Automation area, and other demos, will showcase the Ericsson Intelligent Automation Platform, and its associated rApp ecosystem, as key enablers for optimizing networks for efficiency and performance. The Site Energy Orchestration solution will show how CSPs can turn energy challenges into revenue opportunities.
Security and Cyber Defense
Security is a top priority for Ericsson. The interactive experiences will address the complex threat landscape, featuring the Secure and Trustworthy Networks demo on zero trust, AI, and regulatory compliance. The Cyber Defense Operations showcase will offer hands-on experience with leading security solutions.
5G Core Evolution
Ericsson will also explore the next steps in core network evolution with 5G Advanced, enabling new monetizable services and faster deployment of cloud-native core networks. Core network modernization and the Core Cloud Operating model will provide insights into the agile operations and innovations of leading CSPs.
Interactive Experiences and Ecosystem Collaboration
This year’s show floor promises engaging activities and experts-led discussions, fostering collaboration among customers, partners, and industry experts. Visitors will experience the benefits of high-performing programmable networks and gain valuable insights into the future of connectivity.
Ericsson will also be involved in other immersive and interactive demos, featuring solutions for differentiated connectivity, AI and intent-driven autonomous networks, next-generation mission-critical networks (public safety, defense, utilities, rail and digital airspace), as well as enterprise indoor 5G solutions for private 5G and neutral hosts.
Over 100,000 attendees from more than 200 countries are expected to visit the Fira Grand Via in Barcelona during the four-day MWC 2025 event, running from March 3 to 6, 2025. The Ericsson pavilion in Hall 2, which also features an open-to-all space this year, is anticipated to be one of the event’s highlights.
