Multimillion dollar investment brings 128-miles of new fiber network
stretching from Bay City to Metro Detroit
Marquette and Southfield, Michigan, February 24, 2025 – 123NET, Michigan’s premier fiber internet, colocation, and voice services provider, and Peninsula Fiber Network LLC, a provider of optic-based telecommunications and Next Generation 911 services, today announced completion of construction on an approximate 130-mile fiber route running from Southfield to Bay City bringing affordable high-speed fiber internet along the previously underserved I-75 corridor.
The privately funded, multi-million-dollar project brings important middle-mile capacity to further bolster Michigan’s telecommunication infrastructure. The project was completed on-time and on-budget and offers improved connectivity to communities including Southfield, Beverly Hills, Birmingham, Bloomfield, Pontiac, Waterford, Clarkston, Davisburg, Holly, Fenton, Grand Blanc, Flint, Clio, Birch Run, Bridgeport, Saginaw and Bay City.

While PFN has its roots in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and 123NET is based in Metro-Detroit, the new north-south fiber route will have immediate benefits to the local communities along the route. It will also provide overall connectivity between SE Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, as well as connecting into the partners’ vast network and the Detroit Internet Exchange to seamlessly move traffic across the state and around the globe.
