Virginia Beach, VA – January 16, 2025 – Globalinx, owner and operator of a world-class, carrier-neutral cable landing station in Virginia Beach and infrastructure ready in Myrtle Beach, is expanding its presence in Sandbridge Beach at Virginia Beach. Globalinx has commenced construction of four horizontally directional drilled marine bore pipes into two beach manholes. This infrastructure will include six miles of front haul conduits landing in its 11-acre campus in Virginia Beach, with an expected completion date of March 31. The project makes provision for four additional subsea cables along with the three current operating cables in the neighboring Telxius Cable Landing Station (CLS) which connects with Globalinx (Meet-me Room) MMR.
This expansion builds on Globalinx’s strategic position in Virginia Beach as a gateway for global telecommunications. Globalinx current CLS, 2N+1 carrier neutral data Data Center, boasts 100% uptime over five years of its operation. Along with its Satellite Teleport Gateway, this facility acts as the network access point for the entire Hampton Roads area and offers unmatched proximity and low-latency connectivity to Ashburn, VA.
Designed for four new technology high-capacity subsea cables capable of 400 Tbps each, the project supports the demands of AI, cloud computing, and advanced IP applications required today and in the future. Offering both dark and lit services, the CLS enables tenants to connect seamlessly to a thriving local and global ecosystem.
Virginia Beach provides proximity to major regional industries, including government, defense, health care, and education. The new CLS is part of a hybrid campus that integrates data center capabilities and aside from its 11-acre campus, can support future expansion with capacity for up to 1 million square feet of additional data center space.
“As AI and cloud applications drive unprecedented demand for high-capacity, low-latency infrastructure, Globalinx is poised to meet these challenges. Our Virginia Beach expansion represents the future of global connectivity,” said company CEO Greg Twitt. “This new infrastructure strengthens Virginia Beach’s role as a hub for global digital connectivity.”
