Ericsson Canada ranks 12th in the country in Fiscal 2023 when it comes to research and development spending, according to Research Infosource Inc.’s, Canada’s Top 100 Corporate R&D Spenders annual ranking issued today, moving up one spot in the rankings over Fiscal 2022. The report, penned by Canada’s source for research and development (R&D) intelligence, breaks down corporate research and development spending in Canada, recognizing companies’ substantial investments for fiscal 2023.

“It’s fitting that as Ericsson Canada celebrates a major investment in partnership with the Government of Canada last month, that we continue to be recognized as a proven leader on this country’s R&D scene,” said Jeanette Irekvist, President of Ericsson Canada. “As a global frontrunner in 5G and the largest 5G network equipment provider to Canada’s carriers, we support our Canadian service providers with many of the made-in-Canada technologies that were patented, fine-tuned, tested, or produced at one of our R&D centres here.”

“That made-in-Canada talent and our global expertise, coupled with our collaborative relationships with Canadian universities, industry experts and government, allow us to consistently look for new ways to innovate for our customers and for Canadian society. I’m excited to see what comes next,” added Irekvist.

“Ericsson Canada continues to be a stalwart on the Canadian R&D scene with their consistent investment into Canadian innovation and talent. Time and again, this company is among the country’s corporate R&D leaders. Research Infosource commends Ericsson’s considerable contributions again this year,” said Ron Freedman, CEO of Research Infosource Inc.

Ericsson Canada has been connecting Canadians for more than 70 years and partners with leading telecommunication companies and more than 20 of the country’s top universities and colleges to accelerate R&D and build 5G infrastructure, bringing connectivity to all Canadians. Ericsson Canada is committed to enabling this country’s industries to lead on the world stage, supporting major service providers on their path to nationwide 5G rollout and collaborating with leading players from both academia and wider industry, consisting of partnerships with more than twenty of the country’s top universities and colleges.

The company continues to employ more than 3,100 people across the country. Ericsson Canada provides 5G infrastructure products and services for Bell, EastLink, Rogers, TELUS, Videotron and Xplore and live 5G commercial networks across the country and enables private network solutions as well as transport and critical infrastructure to remote mines and utilities across the country through client partnerships with Ambra, Hydro BC, Hydro One, Hydro Quebec and more.
