Rochester, NY — November 19, 2024 — Precision OT, a core sub-brand within Belden’s Broadband Solutions Portfolio, announces general availability of its QSFP28 100ZR coherent tunable DWDM transceiver. This cost-effective solution optimizes access and edge networks by enabling 100G DWDM interfaces without costly external transport equipment, expensive new switches or routers with QSFP-DD/OSFP ports or outdated low-density host platforms with CFP2 ports.
The 100ZR module supports unamplified grey links up to 80-100km, unamplified DWDM links 30-80km (depending on MUX configuration and insertion loss), and amplified DWDM links up to 300km with extended Chromatic Dispersion compensation. A QSFP28 form factor allows the deployment of 100G DWDM interfaces in nearly all legacy host devices that support QSFP28 transceivers, provided the host platform interfaces allow the higher power consumption and heat dissipation that these new optics require. Key use cases include 5G backhaul, business customer connections, and hub-to-hub links, enabling a shift to IPoDWDM in Access/Edge/Metro networks while reducing the need for expensive, long-deployment transport solutions.
“With the launch of our QSFP28 100ZR solution, we’re excited to deliver a high-performance, cost-effective offering tailored to meet the needs of modern internet broadband and telecommunications providers,” said Keith Habberfield, Vice President of Global Sales at Belden. “This transceiver extends 100G reach capabilities in DWDM networks to unprecedented distances for a single QSFP28 pluggable optic, delivering reliable, low-latency performance with existing QSFP28 ports and devices – all while meeting the growing demand for data throughput. We’re proud to support our customers’ growing bandwidth requirements with an innovative solution that’s easy to retrofit, deploy, and scale.”
The initial product release is a QSFP28 100ZR Coherent Tunable DWDM transceiver with a TX output power in the range of –8.5 to –4dBm, 100GbE single rate, C-temp (0 to +70C) and compatible with the SFF-8636 Management Interface. Several additional product variations are planned for release in 2025.
