Archtop Fiber Begins Construction on State-of-the-Art Fiber Network in Woodstock

Innovative Partnership with the Town of Woodstock Provides Free Archtop Internet Access Via Public Wi-Fi Hotspot

Kingston, New York — October 1, 2024 — Archtop Fiber, a provider of multi-gig, 100%-fiber Internet and phone service to residential and business customers across the Northeast, has started building a 100%-fiber Internet network in the Town of Woodstock. Once operational, Archtop Fiber will provide the fastest, most reliable and environmentally friendly Internet service in the area.

Ready to Rock in Woodstock
With a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in place with the Town of Woodstock, Archtop hopes to begin rolling out its superior service across the area by the end of October. The Internet provider’s multi-gig service currently offers symmetrical speeds up to 2Gbps, far surpassing local competitors, with speeds up to 8Gbps for residences and 10Gbps for businesses coming soon.

Headquartered in Kingston, Archtop will deliver faster, more reliable connectivity as data usage and cloud adoption increase. The new network in Woodstock will support more efficient streaming, a house full of Wi-Fi connected devices, video conferencing, e-commerce and bring new business opportunities to the community. In a unique arrangement, Archtop is leasing space in the Woodstock Police Department to house some of its equipment. In exchange, Archtop will provide free Internet at town offices, as well as a free public Wi-Fi hotspot.

“We are pleased to have a mutually beneficial relationship with Archtop Fiber that benefits all of our citizens. The increased speed and reliability of fiber, combined with the free public hotspot, will unlock new opportunities and drive growth for this community. Our partnership with Archtop is truly a win-win,” said Woodstock Town Supervisor Bill McKenna.

Network Build-Out on a Roll
Woodstock is one of several communities in Ulster County with which Archtop Fiber has an MOU. The MOUs represent a commitment by all parties involved to work together in a joint effort to leverage public investment, including the $664 million BEAD allocation to New York, to expand Archtop’s private investment in a new fiber network beyond its current plans to reach unserved and underserved communities.

“Time and time again, Archtop continues to demonstrate its commitment to bridging the digital divide and bringing the latest tech to underserved communities,” said Jeff DeMond, Chairman and CEO of Archtop Fiber. “We are thrilled to have the support of the Town of Woodstock as we begin construction of our state-of-the-art network in the area.”

Woodstock is the latest community to welcome Archtop as it rolls out its aggressive fiber-optic network build throughout the Northeast. Archtop has launched service in KingstonSaugertiesRhinebeck, and Warwick, New York, with Hudson and the City of Pittsfield, Massachusetts soon to follow.
