GlobalNet Completes DWDM Rings Expansion in Central Europe

GlobalNet, a backbone Internet Service Provider, has completed the deployment of a fully protected, ring-based DWDM network across Central Europe. The infrastructure consists of two rings: Frankfurt – Berlin – Warsaw – Katowice – Prague and Frankfurt – Stuttgart – Munich – Vienna – Bratislava – Prague, forming a unified fiber optic system.

The recently launched Points of Presence in Prague and Bratislava were key to completing this expansion. These PoPs link previously separate segments of the network, forming two fully integrated DWDM rings. Prague and Bratislava are expected to serve as critical nodes for handling traffic from Eastern Europe and the Balkans.

The expanded DWDM network supports GlobalNet’s services, including Capacity (DWDM, Wavelength, L2VPN, VLAN) and DATAIX Internet Exchange services, with bandwidth options available up to 400G in one port. The ring-based structure enhances network redundancy and reduces latency by providing alternative routes in the event of a channel failure. This fault-tolerant design ensures continued service through rerouted traffic, thereby maintaining network reliability.
