Huawei OptiX OSN 9800 K36 marks Huawei’s first Red Dot Award in the optical transmission domain. The product’s technological innovation played a pivotal role in securing this accolade. As the industry’s first OTN platform designed for data center interconnection (DCI), it introduces a front-to-rear airflow design optimized for energy-efficient data center equipment rooms. Its dual 3D orthogonal cross-connect architecture supports a grooming capacity exceeding 100 Tbit/s. Innovative heat dissipation technologies, such as intelligent Hato fans and thermal-conductive materials, reduce per-Gbit power consumption by 65%, supporting data center equipment rooms with a PUE of less than 1.2 and promoting green data center construction. Additionally, robust intelligent computing units enhance the system’s digital and intelligent O&M capabilities, ensuring optimal network performance and availability.

Victor Zhou, President of Huawei’s Optical Transmission Network Domain, commented, “Winning the Red Dot Award for our next-generation OTN product OptiX OSN 9800 K36 underscores the recognition of our industrial design and technological innovation capabilities by industry experts. Through continuous technological advancements, Huawei remains committed to developing high-bandwidth, low-latency, and highly reliable network devices, enabling carriers to build premium all-optical transmission networks in the intelligent era.”

The Red Dot Award, originating from Germany, is one of the world’s top three design awards (alongside Germany’s IF Award and the US’s IDEA Award), renowned as the Oscars of industrial design. Each year, tens of thousands of exceptional design products compete for this prestigious honor, evaluated based on the criteria of “In search of good design and innovation.”
