CITYFIBRE’S FULL FIBRE ROLLOUT MOVES INTO NEW AREAS OF BOGNOR REGIS

14 June 2024: CityFibre, the UK’s largest independent full fibre network, is continuing to expand its rollout in Bognor Regis, and will soon bring ultrafast and reliable broadband to the areas of Middleton-on-Sea, Elmer Sand and Flansham.

CityFibre’s rollout in Bognor Regis began in 2022 and it has since brought full fibre to the areas of Aldwick, North Bersted, South Bersted, Shipney, Hotham and Felpham. This major upgrade to its digital infrastructure is transforming Bognor Regis into one of the best digitally connected towns in the UK.

Adrian Smith, CityFibre’s Partnership Manager for Bognor Regis, said: “Our full fibre rollout in Bognor Regis is progressing well and as we expand into new areas, we’re enabling even more residents and businesses to enjoy the benefits of gigabit speeds and ultra-reliable connectivity. Digital infrastructure underpins so much of modern life so we’re excited to see the impact that our world-class network will bring to the town. We’d like to thank residents for their continued support as we work to complete our network.”

Full fibre networks use 100% fibre optics to carry data at light-speed all the way to and from the home and are more than five times more reliable than legacy copper-based broadband.i CityFibre’s network currently supports symmetrical speeds of up to 2.5Gbps, both uploading and downloading. That is over 36 times faster than the UK’s average download speeds of 69.4Mbps and more than 136 times faster than the UK’s average upload speed of 18.4Mbps.ii

While the speed and reliability of these services far exceeds those using old copper-based networks, packages are available from a wide variety of service providers at comparable prices. Service providers using CityFibre’s network include Vodafone, TalkTalk, IDNet, Zen and Cuckoo (previously Giganet). Other providers are expected to join the network soon.
