Nokia helps signetbreedband evolve business services driven by advanced routing capabilities

  • signetbreedband’s advanced core network needed to evolve to reach highest levels of resiliency for its business networking services.
  • Nokia advanced routing capabilities offers signetbreedband the performance, scalability, resiliency, automation and security necessary to provide most advanced business services in the Netherlands.

15 May 2024
Amsterdam, Netherlands – Nokia has won a major contract with the Dutch managed network solutions provider, signetbreedband, a wholly-owned subsidiary of one of Europe’s leading digital services providers, team.blue. By deploying its advanced routing capabilities into the provider’s core network, Nokia enables signetbreedband to provide the most solid and resilient business networking services in the Netherlands.

Nokia is playing a key role in the evolution of signetbreedband’s new state-of-the-art core network, called ‘Connectivity Core’, which includes automated and scalable building blocks combined with an open network of aggregated fiber, LTE and DSL partners.

Nokia has deployed its 7250 interconnect router (IXR) family to create a resilient, scalable and highly performant MPLS-based core network for signetbreedband, while also providing routed termination points for all their regional POPs. The Nokia 7250 IXR provides the scale and performance needed to meet the growing demand and performance of signenbreedband’s business services. Nokia’s 7750 Service Router (SR), used as the provider’s Broadband Network Gateway (BNG), represents the heart of signetbreedband’s business service networking architecture. The BNG allows signetbreedband to automatically authenticate and authorize business access to network services and content, enforce bandwidth policies, and record usage data for accounting purposes.

This evolution also allows the firm to move from statically configured provisioning to an automated and centralised approach that leverages more advanced protocols like NETCONF for faster and easier data configuration management.

Nokia’s SR operating system (SR OS) network operating system (NOS), and its model driven architecture and advanced telemetry framework, has empowered signetbreedband’s NetOps-based provisioning tool. This tool supports both old and new provisioning approaches while servicing new customers rapidly, efficiently, and accurately. It also adds an extra security level to protect against the growing number of DDoS attacks by ensuring an increase in network availability for customers across multiple availability zones.

Remco Bressers, Technical Director at signetbreedband, said: “At signetbreedband, we understand that internet services are a crucial factor in the success of our customers’ businesses. With our new, highly redundant network infrastructure, we can now deliver business internet services that align with our core values and our aspiration to become the best managed network solution provider in the region. We strive to offer the most resilient and reliable business networking services, allowing our customers to enjoy the performance, flexibility and scale that they expect. With the network foundation that we have built with Nokia, we will continue to innovate and evolve to adopt the latest in innovation and value.”

Mark Vanderhaegen, Director of European Cloud Infrastructure Business at Nokia, added: “We are delighted to have been selected as a trusted partner in modernising and honing business networking services in the Netherlands. Our routing capabilities touch on every aspect of the evolution of signetbreedband’s network through our SR OS Network Operating System or gNMI implementation. We look forward to growing this partnership and, together with signetbreedband, transforming how businesses think of networking services.”
