  • New US headquarters established in Raleigh, North Carolina and appointments of Rachel Canales as Vice President of Strategic Alliances, and Jason Low as Regional Director for APAC, support Iceotope’s growing global footprint
London, UK, 04 April, 2024: Iceotope Technologies Limited (“Iceotope”), the global leader in Precision Liquid Cooling technology, is pleased to welcome Christian Belady as Senior Advisor to the company. Christian is a well-established data center executive known for his innovative approaches to infrastructure and quantitative benchmarking. The appointment coincides with increasing global demand for Iceotope solutions and an ambitious global expansion strategy that includes new US offices and the addition of two new senior executives.
Christian was most recently the Vice President of data center research at Microsoft, where he led a team to drive disruptive data center technologies in cooling, power generation, networking, chip technology and natural ecosystems. Previously, he had led global development for hardware (servers) and data centers, managing research, energy, engineering, construction, and operations. With prior roles at Hewlett Packard, Convex Computers, Texas Instruments, and IBM, he has expertise with high-performance power, cooling, and data center design. Notably, he is credited with originating the Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) metric, now widely adopted worldwide as a measure of data center energy efficiency.
“The demand for AI has reset the clock in the data center industry and the emergence of new power and cooling solutions is becoming paramount to enable continued growth. Clearly, liquid cooling will play a role in this future. However, the industry needs to work together and develop standards to do so,” said Christian Belady. “Iceotope and its leadership team have a vision to do just that with their Precision Liquid Cooling technology. Not only do they believe in a plug-and-play heterogeneous environment, but they also have a technology that can be used for servers, power supplies and JBODs to enable higher densities for all SKUs. I’m excited to be a part of this effort.”
David Craig, CEO of Iceotope, said: “Christian is one of the most respected figures within the data center industry. His expertise in developing some of the largest data center footprints in the world comes at the perfect time for Iceotope. We see demand for liquid cooling exploding as data centers seek more efficient and effective cooling methods to accommodate advanced workloads and solve for higher rack densities and greater power demands. We are thrilled to have Christian join us on this journey.”
The data center liquid cooling market is expected to triple to $10.61 billion by 2028. To support this growth, Iceotope is expanding both its global footprint and the leadership team to meet the demand:
  • Iceotope has opened new offices in the Research Triangle Park (RTP) in Raleigh, North Carolina to allow greater collaboration with its US-based partners and customers. In the first phase, Iceotope’s new offices will house its sales and marketing operation, as well as a showroom for customers to visit and experience its technology firsthand. Future phases will include a mini-lab facility where equipment will be tested before being deployed to customers.
  • In response to the growing demand for Precision Liquid Cooling solutions in Asia-Pacific, Iceotope has appointed Jason Low as Regional Director for APAC to expand the company’s activities and reach in the region. With 23 years of sales and business development experience in technology companies across Asia, Jason joins Iceotope from Quantum, where he was Head of Sales Asia.
  • To develop partnerships that will underpin Iceotope’s global expansion, Rachel Canales has been appointed Vice President of Strategic Alliances. She joins the company from Lenovo, where she was responsible for working with partners to identify new business opportunities.
Iceotope’s Precision Liquid Cooling technology is a new class of liquid cooling that combines the best of direct-to-chip and tank immersion technologies and removes nearly 100% of the heat generated by the electronic components of a server and reduces energy use by up to 40% and water consumption by up to 100%. In July 2022 Iceotope announced the closure of a £30m funding round with investors from the UK, USA and Singapore coming together to help underpin and drive Iceotope’s global growth. The company is planning to roll out new technologies this year and announce additional deployments and partnerships as part of its expansion program.
