CITYFIBRE LAYS ENOUGH FULL FIBRE IN RUGBY TO STRETCH DOUBLE THE LENGTH OF THE OXFORD CANAL

20 March 2024: CityFibre has now laid over a staggering 250km of full fibre internet beneath the streets of Rugby as part of its plan to future-proof the town’s digital connectivity. This progress from the UK’s largest independent full fibre platform means there is enough full fibre connecting the town’s homes to stretch double the length of the Oxford Canal.

Rugby is one of a growing number of locations in the UK to benefit from CityFibre’s nationwide full fibre rollout, which is deploying the best available digital infrastructure across the UK.

Large sections of the town have also been completed, including the Admirals, Cawston ward, Newbold, Hillmorton and Rugby Central, with Caldecott Park, Brownsover and Newton to follow shortly.

Bashir Ahmed, CityFibre’s Partnership Manager for Rugby, said: “This latest milestone is such a great achievement, 250km of full fibre laid beneath the town’s streets represents excellent progress in our rollout. With our network now live across many parts of Rugby, there’s an opportunity for more people to enjoy the benefits of full fibre connectivity. This state-of-the-art network will future-proof the town’s digital foundations for decades to come.”

Full fibre networks use 100% fibre optics to carry data at light speed all the way from the home to the point of connection. This gives users speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps for upload and download, near limitless bandwidth and reliable connectivity.

In Rugby, customers can already connect to the new network and benefit from full fibre-enabled broadband from a choice of providers, including UK launch partner, Vodafone on selected Vodafone Pro Broadband plans, TalkTalk, IDNet, Giganet and Zen. Other providers are expected to join the network soon.

People interested in upgrading their home’s digital connection to full fibre can find out more about the build, register their interest or find available providers at www.cityfibre.com/PR.
