NetIX Doubles Its Capacity Across Europe

Sofia, Bulgaria – 11th January 2024: NetIX, the leading global distributed platform for award-winning connectivity and peering solutions has added and upgraded its capacities across its European network to allow for better connectivity between Marseille, Milan, Frankfurt, and Madrid.

NetIX has added a new 100G route between Marseille and Milan to keep up with customer demand, and to provide additional redundancy resources for other routes in order to continue to provide the level of service its members expect. Additionally, for the same reasons, the existing capacity between Madrid and Frankfurt has been upgraded and doubled to 200G.

Dean Belev, VP of Connectivity Services at NetIX said, “We take great pride in growing and strengthening our network, especially when we know how much our members will benefit from the upgrades.” He continued, “Increasing capacity on popular routes makes logical sense, but adding new routes to offer resiliency is where we shine. This move will ensure our network can continue providing connectivity between key cities needed for economic growth.”

Marseille is a major telecoms hub and connects Europe to Africa, the Middle East, and Asia via ten subsea cables with two more planned to go live later this year, and a further two that are due to be ready for service in 2025. Similarly, Northern Italy has long been a transportation hub for air and ground traffic but as we move towards a more online world, the region’s becoming an important core for exchanging Internet traffic, as well.

As Europe’s largest and strongest economy, Germany enjoys a well-established telecoms network with its fibre optic cables making up the densest network in the world. And with Frankfurt being the largest financial centre in mainland Europe, its always-on telecoms are relied upon by major names around the world. Madrid has been at the centre of much investment in recent years to help grow it to become a competitive digital hub in light of the growing need for interconnection in Southern Europe.

NetIX plans on further improving its network resiliency by adding another city-to-city connection later in Q1; it’s expected a new 100G link will connect Madrid to Marseille.

The NetIX platform brings simplicity to network expansions via a single connection; NetIX is home to 200+ members, 30+ IXPs, and 10,000+ networks across 100+ cities and any connected network can benefit by connecting to any peer or location using the same port.
