EdgeConneX Achieves Top Rankings for Transparency and Efficiency in Structure Research’s Inaugural State of Environmental Impact Report

HERNDON, VA., January 22, 2024 — EdgeConneX®, the pioneer in global Hyperlocal to Hyperscale Data Center Solutions, today announces that it has been recognized with the highest ranking in the Structure Research 2023 State of Environmental Impact report, highlighting the company’s deep commitment to efficiency and transparency as it relates to sustainability and the environment.

Structure Research’s report analyzed 27 data center providers and nine hyperscale platforms that have published at least one ESG report. It provides a comprehensive view of the data center industry’s impact on climate change, ranking ESG Leaders on three key attributes: Level of Transparency, Operational Data Center Efficiency, and Renewable Energy Usage.

EdgeConneX has been developing hyperlocal to large-scale data centers for over a decade, focusing on deploying the right solutions in suitable locations for customers and their communities. Operating over 60 data centers in more than 50 markets globally, the company remains committed to deploying and operating a carbon-, water- and waste-neutral global data center platform powered by 100% renewable energy by 2030.

“Company-wide, we care for our Customers, People, and Planet by implementing a holistic Sustainability and ESG policy, with every role in every office committed to making EdgeConneX a leader in delivering sustainable solutions. Our customers are at the core of our DNA, as we work to exceed their requirements for practical, sustainable energy, water, land, and operations options. Combined, these will enable us to deliver global solutions empowering services like machine learning, AI, cloud, content, and commerce while continuing to ensure that we are helping to lead the way for our industry to be a pivotal contributor to sustainable solutions worldwide.” – Randy Brouckman, Co-founder and CEO, EdgeConneX

“The growth in the global digital economy has led to the data center and cloud infrastructure industries accounting for a more significant portion of global resource consumption. This has led to an increased focus on the impact that data centers have on the global landscape. As more companies join the movement to become more transparent about their environmental impact from electricity and water consumption to carbon emissions, we as a neutral, third-party research platform can play our part by highlighting the companies that have made meaningful strides in making their data center businesses more sustainable and efficient. The goal is to encourage and incentivize more data center operators, and hyperscaler cloud providers to be more transparent in disclosing a core set of environment metrics related to their global data center infrastructure footprint.” – Jabez Tan, Head of Research, Structure Research

“Being ranked highly in Structure Research’s 2023 State of Environmental Impact report is a testament to our team’s hard work and dedication. This recognition validates our commitment to sustainability and motivates us to continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible in our industry. We are driven by our mission to build and operate where our customers want to go and align our services with unique and proven innovations and technologies. We remain focused on building a sustainable future for all.” – Raj Chudgar, Chief Power Officer, EdgeConneX

EdgeConneX commitment to Sustainability has deepened throughout its momentous growth, leading to adopting renewable energy, energy-efficient equipment, and carbon mitigation strategies. Transparency is critical to the company’s approach, with published Sustainability reports on its website tracking progress year after year from 2020.
