MSP platform built on Nutanix technology offers public cloud like experience at approximately half the cost of hyperscalers
AUCKLAND, New Zealand, Nov 21, 2023 – Nutanix today announced its longest-standing partner in Australia and New Zealand, ASI Solutions, has launched ASI Cloud – a new MSP offering that provides New Zealand organisations public-cloud like experience, at approximately half the price of the hyperscalers, with all data hosted and managed in New Zealand.
ASI Cloud is built on the Nutanix Cloud Platform and offers customers the full suite of Nutanix services including Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Database-as-a-Service (DbaaS), and Disaster Recovery-as-a-Service (DraaS).
Lloyd Vickery, country manager, ASI Solutions NZ, said the service was already being used by Hurunui and South Taranaki District Council, both of which have gone ‘all in’ on the platform.
“Councils across New Zealand are constantly being asked to do more with less,” Lloyd said. “This is a great solution for them because it’s cost-effective, they retain complete control, and it gives them a pathway to consume other cloud services over time as they increasingly move apps to SaaS providers and explore hybrid multicloud environments.”
ASI Solutions believes customers should have the freedom to choose the best cloud for their requirements and not be locked in to any one solution. As such, customers can use ASI Solution’s cloud management tools to deploy workload to multiple cloud providers and freely migrate between them.
Lloyd said ASI Solutions had put a lot of thought into avoiding cloud lock-in for customers.
“What we’ve done with Nutanix, is leverage their technology to build a solution that allows customers to easily move workloads in and out of multiple clouds, including ours. We know the cloud we’ve built won’t always be the right fit – we want to give our customers the ability to easily use any cloud. If it’s best for them, then ultimately, that will work out best for us.”
ASI Cloud is currently delivered from multiple locations in New Zealand – primarily the newly-built CDC datacentres [cdcdc.co.nz] that guarantee 100% availability and are certified carbon neutral, powered completely with renewable energy.
The platform helps to support data sovereignty preferences, keeping data hosted in New Zealand, while also delivering cutting edge disaster recovery capabilities. In Auckland, ASI Cloud has been providing instantaneous data recovery, and ‘near synchronous’ recovery across the entire country.
“Typically in regional areas, organisations would get recovery points hourly or even daily, but we can get it down to every minute and include automated failover,” Lloyd said. “This is particularly important for organisations under threat from the AF8 [af8.org.nz], as it provides near real-time disaster recovery across the North and South Islands.”
In the coming months, ASI Solutions plans to expand ASI Cloud into Australia.
Michael Magura, vice president partner sales at Nutanix APJ, said the platform was a great example of local innovation and was ideal for local councils, higher education providers, and the SMB corporate sector.
“Our partnership with ASI Solutions stretches over a decade, and they have always held the highest levels of certification on the Nutanix platform,” Magura said. “They have an intimate knowledge of the challenges New Zealand organisations face, as well as their desired future state, and ASI Cloud has been engineered to accelerate the transformation journey.”
