UPIX Networks expands its network coverage in Brazil with Padtec’s DWDM solution

Operator relies on the line of 800 Gb/s transponders to light up new routes, which reach the capitals Curitiba and Porto Alegre and the coastal cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

UPIX Networks, operator of neutral networks and connectivity services, is investing in the expansion of its already extensive high-capacity communication network in Brazil – which currently covers over 10,000 kilometers. Now, this network reaches the capitals Curitiba (PR) and Porto Alegre (RS) and the coastal cities of the states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. To light the new routes, the operator is using Padtec’s line of 800 Gb/s transponders (up to 400 Gb/s per optical channel).

With headquarters in São Paulo, Miami and Bogotá, UPIX Networks currently serves over a thousand corporate clients, with its own networks in Brazil and Colombia and, through interconnections, is present in an additional 15 countries. “Our proposal is to serve the different types of telecommunications companies, from over-the-top service operators (OTTs) to regional providers, contributing to the expansion of the very high-speed broadband offerings in Latin America, the United States and the world”, says Ronaldo Pelizon, CEO of the operator. “The quality of the network infrastructure is essential to meet the demands and, therefore, it is necessary to invest in state-of-the-art equipment, capable of guaranteeing a stable, reliable connection and optimizing the network’s performance. This is the case with Padtec’s 800 Gb/s transponders”, adds the executive.

Developed and manufactured in Brazil, Padtec’s 800 Gb/s transponder offers high data transmission capacity over short, medium and long distances. “One of the most recent technical novelties of this generation of transponders is the Coupled Mode functionality, which enables intermediate transmission rates, for example 50, 150 and 250 Gb/s, and not just in increments of 100 at 100 Gb/s”, explains Argemiro Sousa, director of Equipment Operation at Padtec. “For our customers, this means more flexibility and lower cost per bit for expanding the capacity of their networks”, he concludes.
