WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Friday, the Senate voted to confirm Anna Gomez as Commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Tribal Ready, PBC, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Joe Valandra, offers the following statement:
“Tribal Ready, PBC congratulates Anna Gomez on her confirmation by the U.S. Senate as Commissioner of the Federal Communica7ons Commission (FCC). Tremendous changes are taking place in the broadband industry due to the historic investments being made in the infrastructure that delivers and supports broadband services. It is vitally important that Tribes play a major role in determining access to service, levels of service, and who provides service to Indian Country. The FCC will play a significant role in forming policies that acknowledge Tribal Sovereignty and recognize the role that Tribal governments must play in shaping and implemen7ng those policies.
