Gigs introduces Operator, the ChatGPT for Telecom

San Francisco, September 14th, 2023  – Gigs (gigs.com), the world’s first telecom-as-a-service platform, has announced the launch of Operator (gigs.com/operator), the first conversational AI assistant for telecom. The AI tool enables any company that provides voice and data plans to assist users in self-service and resolving any query directly within a white-label chat interface, utilizing in-chat UI elements. Initial results indicate that Gigs Operator reduces customer service overhead by up to 95% with conversational sales and instant, always-on support, thus significantly improving the margins of any wireless service provider. Gigs Operator is currently in closed beta and will be publicly available in the next couple of months.

Hermann Frank, co-founder & CEO at Gigs, said, “The potential of AI intelecom is completely untapped, and we’re excited to launch the first conversational AI assistant in the telecom space. Gigs Operator troubleshoots and executes speedy resolutions to any query, thereby dramatically decreasing support volume and overhead by up to 95%. It intelligently handles requests in any language, responding with a relevant help center article or escalating to your support team based on sentiment and complexity. Whether your customers want to purchase a new phone plan, update their payment method, or learn how to activate a dual SIM on their phone, no query is too complex for Operator.”

With the global market for AI in telecom projected to reach $38.8 billion by 2031, AI represents the single most powerful lever in improving profitability across the telecoms sector. A study by McKinsey underscores the necessity for telecom companies to incorporate AI-powered solutions if they are to remain competitive. Particularly in customer service, AI can lower operating costs by up to 70% through task automation while simultaneously enhancing customer experiences. By leveraging advanced technologies like Gigs Operator, telecom providers can streamline processes, improve efficiency, and personalize services, leading to increased productivity, stronger customer relationships, and a competitive edge in the market.

How Gigs Operator works

Gigs Operator enables users to interact through a white-labeled chat interface that intuitively responds to and resolves any query. Operator combines natural language responses with in-chat UI elements to enable users to, for example, update credit card details, modify their phone plan or request eSIM installation guides directly in the chat, creating a highly engaging and seamless customer experience. Powered by a fusion of proprietary Gigs data, including FAQs, paired with Open AI’s GPT-4 large language model, it can be customized for tone of voice and content translation into numerous languages. Gigs Operator’s architecture ensures that data and conversations are never shared with third parties. Additionally, customers have the capability to review any content generated by the Operator before it goes live.

Gigs Operator’s core features at a glance:

  • Support: Provide installation guides, surfacing FAQ responses and offer contextual support on number porting, device compatibility checks, plan upgrades, technical issues, account modifications and more.

  • Sales: By displaying branded UI elements with plan selections, network selections and sign up forms in-chat, Operator generates new sign-ups, sells new primary phone plans, travel SIMs and conducts KYCs.

  • Payments: Allow customers to use and update their credit cards, Apple Pay, or Google Pay, and enable them to find invoices, view past and upcoming payments and more.

Gigs Operator is currently in beta and will be publicly available in the next couple of months. To get first access, customers can join the waitlist at gigs.com/operator.
