Bulk Data Centers Expands with Second Data Center at Kristiansand Site

Kristiansand, Norway – September 6th, 2023 – Bulk Data Centers, the leading provider of ultra-scalable, highly connected, and sustainable data centers in the Nordics, today announced the opening of its second data center at its N01 campus in Southern Norway. The new data center offers a capacity of 12MW and is already nearly fully contracted due to high demand.

Following the success and demand of Bulk’s colocation solutions, the company is starting on the construction of its third data center, as part of its campus expansion plans. The new facility will offer 20MW of IT space, designed to accommodate the latest generation of high-density GPU and CPU infrastructure. It will include air cooling capabilities of up to 100kW+ per rack, as well as direct liquid cooling solutions.

Strengthening Scalability through Strategic Partnerships

Bulk’s strategic partnership with CTS Nordics is a pivotal step in optimising the design and construction development process. This collaboration enables Bulk to deliver on the most demanding timelines while ensuring future scalability. By leveraging the expertise of both organisations, this partnership aims to drive innovative solutions and enhance the overall efficiency of data center infrastructure development.

Strategic Location

Situated on a 300-hectare (3,000,000 sq m) site, the N01 campus in Kristiansand, Southern Norway, occupies a strategic position. The site boasts diverse, high-capacity direct intercontinental and regional fiber routes, linking it with international transport hubs. The proximity to Europe’s largest transformer station ensures redundant connections to multiple hydropower stations, guaranteeing a continuous and sustainable supply of 100% renewable energy.

The rapid occupancy of our new data center in Kristiansand underscores the undeniable demand for highly scalable, cost-effective, and environmentally conscious solutions,” said Gisle M. Eckhoff, Head of Bulk Data Centers.

Rob Elder, Chief Commercial Officer at Bulk Data Centers, added: “Meeting our customers’ demands is our number one priority. Our team possesses an intimate knowledge of market trends, and we remain dedicated to constructing data center infrastructure at a large scale and in the shortest timeframes.

At a time when countries across Europe are facing strain on land, power, and sustainability, we offer a holistic solution, enabling our customers to scale in a low-cost sustainable way.”
