White House Announces $42.5 Billion BEAD Funding Allocations

The most significant broadband investment ever made by the Federal government

Washington, D.C. – This morning, the White House, along with the Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), announced that it has allocated $42.5 billion from the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program to all 50 states, the District of Columbia and five territories. These funds will be used to deploy affordable broadband networks to ensure access to reliable, high-speed internet for all.

“This is an opportunity for Tribes to access funding on a scale never before available,” said Tribal Ready Chairman and CEO Joe Valandra. “Tribes are often the most underserved communities in any state. The funds are specifically targeted to address unserved areas, and this priority within BEAD is the key to solving the digital divide for Indian Country.”

Tribal Ready has been helping Tribal communities access broadband funding through BEAD. However, because the BEAD funding distribution depends on the inaccurate FCC Fabric map, Tribal Ready Utilizes its Virtual Tribal Broadband Office to collect accurate data. This helps Tribes advocate for the appropriate funding they deserve.

“Tribal Nations must mobilize now to be able to benefit from BEAD. This is imperative and urgent because it enables Indian Country to take control of the digital future long-term. Tribal Ready is prepared to work with and for Indian Country to ensure it is not left out of this major investment,” Valandra said.
