Leveraging 20+ years of expertise in subsea cable systems, Dr. Garrett is to support OFC, the largest global conference and exhibition for optical communications and networking professionals
NEWINGTON, NH – USA – June 5, 2023 – SubCom is pleased to announce that Dr. Lara Garrett, Director of Product Line Management (PLM), has been appointed by the Steering Committee of the Optical Fiber Conference (OFC) to an exciting role in the conference organization process. She will serve as a Technical Program co-chair starting in 2025, and will then serve as a General co-chair of the event in 2027.
OFC is the largest conference and exhibition for optical communications and networking professionals, and for more than 45 years has drawn attendees from all corners of the globe to meet and greet, teach and learn, make connections across many generations of technical professionals, and move business forward.
As an OFC Technical Program co-chair, Dr. Garrett will have an opportunity to provide input on the agendas, programming, and themes for upcoming OFC events, and will seek to maintain the OFC tradition of inclusivity and innovation. With more than 20 years of research and industrial experience in fiber optic transmission systems, Dr. Garrett will draw upon her own expertise and the institutional knowledge of SubCom, which has been among the world’s most active and innovative suppliers of subsea fiber optic data cables since the 1950s.
