AT&T & Girl Scouts: Growing Leaders of Tomorrow

Girl Scouts of the USA may be known for their cookies, but they are also known for teaching girls across the nation to lead a life bigger than themselves and inspire others to do the same.

As an AT&T employee, Girl Scout alum, and leader of my daughter’s troop in Georgia , I’m proud to be part of a company, like AT&T, and organization, like Girl Scouts, that work hand-in-hand in their shared vision to help America’s youth lead a fulfilling life.

I’m so excited to share the collaboration AT&T and Girl Scouts are kicking off this summer. Thousands of girls will have access to The Achievery™, AT&T’s free digital learning platform, through the Girl Scout Activity Zone. This $500,000 commitment from AT&T will benefit Girl Scout councils nationwide and help students stay on track with their educational goals this summer and help avoid the summer slide.

The Achievery™, available year-round, offers more than 570 learning units in both English and Spanish, providing educational and entertaining videos paired with free learning activities. Through this collaboration, girls can also check out official Girl Scout badge activities. Talk about a deal!

From being a Brownie to serving as my daughter’s troop leader for the past 15 years, I have always been proud to be a Girl Scout. AT&T continues to empower me to use the skills I learned as a Girl Scout in and out of the office. My Girl Scout experience has taught me that not every person is the same, people learn differently, and you must value their experiences to be successful. I’m excited to see the two organizations closest to me work together to help young girls across the nation continue to dream big.

Behind every troop is a leader. I will never forget mine, Mrs. Beck. She was definitely my inspiration. Growing up, I wanted to be a woman like her. She has a professional job, she’s well educated, she takes care of her daughter, and served as a role model for our troop. Even as a young Brownie Girl Scout, I knew I wanted to be just like Mrs. Beck….

Through the AT&T Connected Learning initiative, we are helping connect today’s learners, in and out of the classroom. From families in need to Girl Scouts, we are reaching millions of students through our connectivity. This commitment is merely a continuation of our work with Girl Scouts. During the pandemic, we funded virtual family STEM nights. Between 2011 and 2017, AT&T employees have volunteered over 100,000 hours with Girl Scouts.

The Girl Scouts’ mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Whether it’s in the classroom, the field, or at home, we have every opportunity to grow. A platform like The Achievery™ will help students flourish and point our girls in the right direction. Beyond strengthening their skills in the classroom, The Achievery™ offers social emotional learning courses to help us shape a generation of confident girls, time after time.

AT&T is committed to leading America’s youth and helping them prosper in every area of their life. Leading a life of confidence and courage begins in the developmental years, and The Achievery™ can help girls pave their own unique path.
