The Dutch backbone ISP reveals the details of the latest network equipment modernisation on the communication centre in Frankfurt. GlobalNet have upgraded its main Arista switch to the latest version available allowing access to the 400G ports. One of the first 400G clients connected via the DATAIX traffic exchange points has been a major hosting provider that is now benefiting from using more modern interfaces. “Network modernisation is one of our main business development strategies. We constantly thrive to offer our clients the latest technology advances and solutions. As a result, there will be another major upgrade on network points In Stockholm” – says Alex Surkoff, GlobalNet business development Director.
The company has reported a significant increase in network point connections – by 32%. This is most evident in the Frankfurt region due to an increased traffic demand coming from Ukraine and Bulgaria. “Last year we launched a new point of presence in Sofia, as we received many requests from our clients to organize a hub in the Bulgarian capital. Now we are seeing a “snowballing effect”, when more and more new participants are connected to the network, because they are interested in sessions with our current clients,” says Alex Surkoff.
By the end of the second quarter, GlobalNet had received more than 20 new customers of its services, including connections to the DATAIX Internet Exchange point, 10 more are on the way. The company believes that the connection of several major members, the organic growth of traffic within the network, as well as the launch of a new point of presence in Sofia helped it achieve noticeable growth.
