Involta Awarded 2022 Idaho Awards for Leadership in Energy Efficiency by Governor Brad Little

BOISE, Idaho — Feb. 9, 2023 — Delivering on its mission to increase sustainability across its national footprint, Involta is proud to announce its Boise Victory View Data Center has been honored with the 2022 Idaho Awards for Leadership in Energy Efficiency in the Buildings category.
The annual Idaho Awards for Leadership in Energy Efficiency honor businesses for their achievements by supporting energy conservation and implementing energy efficiency measures within their facilities in Idaho. Several initiatives at Involta’s Victory View Data Center resulted in an energy reduction of more than 1.3M kWh and a cost savings of over $110,000, earning the company a nomination and ultimate recognition for these significant results.
To achieve these results, the company’s initiatives included redirecting airflow to allow for energy-efficient cooling, installing air conditioning units with variable frequency drive fan motors and two 500kW UPS (uninterrupted power supply) with Lithium-Ion battery backup. In addition, Involta initiated many more measures to conserve power and resources, such as LED lighting, touchless faucets and an e-cycling program to reduce the amount of hardware waste going to landfills.
“We are honored to have received this esteemed recognition and are proud to be a part of the Treasure Valley community. As a national provider of data center and technology services, one of Involta’s goals is to be a responsible steward of energy conservation in how we design, build and operate data centers,” comments Michael Campbell, Data Center Manager for Involta’s Boise market. “We are only able to achieve this with the ongoing support of our market partners, including Idaho Power, The City of Boise, and The State of Idaho.”
Recognizing that the data center industry is consuming 3% of the world’s power and growing, these impactful approaches to furthering Involta’s commitment to ESG are implemented across all its purpose-built data centers. Sustainable measures have been a core pillar for Involta since its inception and long before “green” became an industry buzzword. Involta Founder and Vice Chair of its Board of Directors, Bruce Lehrman, authored a chapter of Greener Data: Actionable Insights from Industry Leaders in which he writes “We wanted green initiatives to be at the figurative – and literal – core of our organization, and we differentiated Involta by focusing on how to be as efficient and green as we could as an operator.”
