AMS-IX launches Data Centre Interconnect

AMS-IX has launched a new Data Centre Interconnect service for its customers. The new service enables customers to use the AMS-IX Amsterdam platform to privately move data from one AMS-IX Point of Presence (PoP) to another, allowing them to benefit from enhanced network performance and secure and reliable connections.

Data Centre Interconnect is a private and flexible point-to-point connection between one or more AMS-IX locations. Using the service, a customer can connect any of their AMS-IX Access connections, extend their internet infrastructure and reach other datacentres, enabling them to buy or sell services there. Moreover, the service can be used to build a datacentre backbone and connect two or more existing datacentre locations to perform data back-ups and migrations.

“This new service supports multiple use cases”, says Mike Baron, CCO of AMS-IX. “Especially enterprises, the public sector, hosting providers and managed service providers will benefit greatly from this new service.“

Data Centre Interconnect is built on a fully managed and redundant ethernet network, ensuring a reliable and low-latency connectivity between sites. The service is currently only available for the sixteen datacentres in the Amsterdam Metro and in Rotterdam and Naaldwijk. The new service will be available as of today.
