5G-NR capable global testing tool simplifies grid testing and reduces time to design, install, commission, and optimize Nextivity cellular and public safety deployments.
Today Nextivity, the industry leader in intelligent cellular coverage solutions, released the COMPASS XR site survey, installation, and testing tool, helping installers and system integrators reduce the time it takes to identify areas with poor in-building cellular and Land Mobile Radio (LMR) coverage as well as verify coverage has been improved. System integrators and installers deploying CEL-FI cellular and SHIELD public safety systems will benefit from a streamlined installation process made possible by COMPASS XR’s range of testing features, compact size, and portability.
COMPASS XR is a welcome addition to the Nextivity suite of smart signal boosters, testing equipment, software, and accessories. This new release is the next generation of the COMPASS smart radio frequency (RF) handheld scanner technology – adding 5G support and integrated public safety radio testing in a convenient, easy-to-carry device at half the size of the previous model.
Simplified and integrated grid testing speeds up project timelines for both commercial cellular and public safety installations. To support public safety deployments, the device features a built-in LMR antenna for scanning 700/800 MHz frequencies and supports the calculation of Delivered Audio Quality (DAQ) equivalents. By streamlining the installation and coverage testing processes while optimizing system performance, building owners will receive Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) approval and secure a certificate of occupancy without delay. Similarly, with COMPASS XR, installers can quickly identify cellular coverage issues, remediate, and verify – giving building owners and occupants the peace of mind of having a cellular signal when and where they need it.
“Grid testing is a critical part of both the initial site survey as well as implementation verification. Installers and integrators increasingly need to demonstrate the impact of commercial cellular coverage to win new business. And, with public safety installations, local AHJs require the completion of the onsite walk-through and acceptance of testing protocols before granting a certificate of occupancy,” says Michiel Lotter, CEO of Nextivity. “COMPASS XR provides Nextivity partners a cost-effective scanning solution that makes it faster to determine where coverage is needed in a building across a wide range of radio technologies as well as verify the coverage that was provided by a CEL-FI or SHIELD system. COMPASS XR is fully integrated into our WAVE Platform and should be part of every installer’s toolkit.”
