Hong Kong – November 11th 2022: Chayora’s Greater Shanghai Campus Data Centre Topping-out and Customer Celebration Ceremony was successfully held on November 8th, with invited dignatories Wang Liping, Vice-Mayor of Taicang, Li Tianyi, Secretary of the Party Committee of Huangjing Town, and Zhang Jie, Mayor of Huangjing Town, attending the event. Chayora’s EVP Network & Strategy, Yali Liu, hosted the ceremony, while Leo Zhao, Executive VP Sales at Chayora China, and Kevin Sun, General Manager, delivered insightful speeches.
“Advantageously located just half an hour away from Shanghai by car, Taicang sits within the Jiading and Baoshan districts of Shanghai,” said Wang Liping, “With high-tech, high computing power, high energy-efficiency and high safety green data centres seeing substantial growth, the new Chayora Greater Shanghai Data Centre offers a wide range of advantages including high-quality data transmission and stable power supply.”
“Chayora will build three green high-performance computing power centres in its Greater Shanghai Data Centre Campus to support the development of the digital economy of Taicang and Suzhou as well as the industry development structure of Yangtze Delta Integration,” said Kevin Sun, General Manager of Chayora. “The second campus project delivered by Chayora in China, the Greater Shanghai Data Centre Campus, marks yet another milestone in Chayora’s journey of green data centre development. Chayora will leverage its green data centres to enable the digital business development of all enterprises.”
Supporting digital transformation with services benefiting all enterprises
On an 8.5 acres (50 mu) site that is about 80 kms from the Pudong Central Business District (CBD), Shanghai, the new Chayora Greater Shanghai Campus Data Centre supports 48MW IT loads and achieves super-fast network connection with the Shanghai CBD through 10,000 cabinets and a highly reliable independent dual 120MVA/60MVA power supply supported by dedicated substations. Chayora evidenced its commitment to Zero Incident and Zero Injury through the whole process of campus construction commencement to completion, by setting a milestone record of over 480,000 incident-free man-hours.
Differentiated services with customized data centre designs
The secret to Chayora’s success amongst intense competition is to meet the diverse needs of its customers. Chayora endeavours to gain an in-depth understanding of its customer needs before customizing infrastructure for them, and tailoring their data centre solutions according to industry best practice after thorough consideration of the space, power supply and network resources of the available data centre space.
Chayora offers significant advantages in efficiency improvement and reduction of energy consumption. Because the Greater Shanghai Data Centre Campus and Tianjin Campus are located in two different places, different technologies are adopted. “Because of the different environments, the technologies of the two campuses are different,” says Kevin Sun, “But we still deliver a PUE at this new campus of below 1.25.” Such a low PUE not only represents a leading performance in the whole Yangtze Delta region, but also meets the requirement of “further cutting the PUE of regional data centres to 1.25” that was laid down in the 14th Five-Year Plan and latest industry policies of China, bearing testament to the leading and exemplary role that Chayora has played in data centre solutions.
Following the trend towards economy of scale in securing enterprises
Over the past few years, the trend in the data centre industry has been towards economy of scale and integrated development, as can be seen in the case of Chayora: two years ago, Chayora built the first hyperscale data centre campus in Mainland China – Tianjin Data Centre Campus, with a total investment of US$1.5 billion on a site of approx. 80 acres (480 mu). This campus is designed to accommodate 7 independent data centres in 9 buildings that house a total of 25,000 cabinets.
Last December, Chayora successfully raised further financing by receiving an investment from EdgeConneX. Going forward, Chayora plans to continue to develop large-scale data centre campuses in South and Central China to expand its reach in other strategic business regions with a view to benefit more enterprises both in and outside of China through its extensive practical experience and highly refined customised services.
The new Chayora Greater Shanghai Data Centre Campus will be brought into service in Q1 2023. Inspired by its aspirations for the future, Chayora is poised to keep marching on, with the strength of its high-quality infrastructure, professional service and solid sustainable development philosophies.
