Skywire Networks Adds Tom Gambino as Chief Operating Officer

Having surpassed 2K lit buildings, an increase of over 170% since 2019, Skywire adds Chief Operating Officer to help oversee its accelerated growth

Brooklyn, New York — July 26, 2022 — Skywire Networks, one of the fastest growing internet, network and service providers in New York City, has hired Tom Gambino as its Chief Operating Officer (COO). Tom’s addition comes as Skywire Networks and its parent company, Xchange Telecom, experience significant growth. Tom’s primary responsibilities will include operational oversight of the company’s residential and commercial business units as well as a strategic member of the leadership team.

“This industry waits for no one,” comments Alan Levy, Co-Founder and CEO of Skywire Networks. “Tom’s hire is directly attributable to our considerable growth and the vast potential of our business going forward. He brings an incredible wealth of operational experience in a variety of senior operating roles within the telecom industry, especially in the NYC market. We are excited that he has joined the team.”

Prior to Skywire, Tom served as SVP Deployment and Operations at Intersection, an experience-driven media and technology company, where he led critical aspects of the company’s operations across 12 markets. This includes Link, the world’s largest and fastest public Wi-Fi project. Before Intersection, he served as Senior Director of Operations at Charter Communications where he was responsible for the day-to-day operation of properties within New York City.

“It is a great opportunity, and I am excited and honored to work with such a talented leadership team,” said Gambino. “Skywire has proven itself as one of the fastest growing internet builders in NYC with more than 2,000 lit buildings and a near-net footprint exceeding 350,000. The company owns one of the largest fixed wireless networks in NYC and is disrupting the market by providing reliable broadband to both residential and commercial buildings as a cost effective and easily scalable alternative to fiber. I am thrilled to be a key part of the operations, future successes, and overall growth of Skywire and Xchange.”

Skywire’s successes come as the company makes good on its mission to provide a ubiquitous, robust, SLA-backed broadband service to business and residential customers in underserved areas predominantly in Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx and parts of Manhattan that have poor fiber density. The company’s hybrid fixed wireless / fiber solution is often the only affordable means of reaching this substantial, untapped market.
