MBC Announces New Connection to Pixel Factory Data Center

Connection enables access to diverse IP transit to DE-CIX and aggregation services for MBC customers

June 9, 2022 (South Boston, Virginia). Mid-Atlantic Broadband Communities Corporation (MBC), a leading open-access, wholesale fiber optic infrastructure operator in Virginia, announced a new diverse connection to the Pixel Factory Data Center in Ashland, Virginia. This new on-net colocation for MBC provides multiple benefits to MBC’s carrier and ISP customers in the Virginia and Mid-Atlantic markets, including access to robust IP transit and Internet Exchange capabilities.

MBC’s direct connection into Pixel Factory’s carrier neutral data center allows IP traffic from carriers and ISPs to travel directly to the data center via diverse routes and provides access to other customers and networks at the data center, including direct access to the robust DE-CIX Internet Exchange.

“MBC is committed to expanding and investing in our Virginia network to meet our customers’ evolving communications needs,” said Tad Deriso, MBC President & CEO. “The decision to colocate in Pixel Factory was one that fit with our strategy of offering multiple, diverse on-ramps to IP Transit and Internet Exchange facilities to increase transport capacity and reduce costs to our carrier customers.”

“We are thrilled to have MBC land a node in Pixel Factory Data Center,” said Scott Brown, President of Pixel Factory. “We understand MBC’s middle mile network is well positioned to help solve the digital divide working with many ISPs to bring fiber to homes and businesses here in Virginia.”
