Company Strategically Expands to Meet the Rapid Uptake of Networking and Connectivity Services
COLUMBUS, Ohio – April 7, 2022 – Horizon, an Ohio-based fiber-optic broadband company, is excited to welcome Susan Hofer as its first-ever Chief People Officer. As an accomplished senior human resources executive with more than two decades of experience, she will guide the human resources (HR) team at Horizon, developing and executing new strategies to help the company successfully scale and meet its goals in keeping the Midwest connected.
As demands throughout the region for next-generation networking and robust connectivity have continued to grow, Horizon has also been rapidly expanding its team of highly knowledgeable and talented individuals to keep pace with customer requirements. In 2022 alone, the company plans to welcome an additional 30–40% more employees across all three segments of its business: residential, business and Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH).
“I couldn’t be more excited to join this team of passionate individuals, especially during a time when they are growing aggressively and have a significant opportunity to create a high-performing, customer-focused workforce,” comments Hofer. “I look forward to leveraging my dedication to team building and experience within the telecommunications industry to drive new success for both the Horizon team and those it serves.”
Before joining Horizon, Hofer served as Vice President of Human Resources and Communications for Intelligent Fiber Network. In this role, she was responsible for leading the company’s human resources strategy and managing all talent-related operations. She has also worked in significant human resources positions across e-commerce, hospitality and finance organizations. Hofer comes to Horizon with several industry professional credentials, including Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Society of Human Resources Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) and Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).
“People with Susan’s background and expertise are few and far between,” says Jim Capuano, CEO at Horizon. “Horizon is at an inflection point in its growth cycle and we were in great need of a person, not just to help us manage the human resources organization, but someone with senior executive skills to help the company identify our future needs and plan for them in the present. Susan has exactly the skills that we need to help illuminate Horizon’s path forward and ensure the successful execution of our expansion plans.”
Today, Horizon operates 6,000+ miles of fiber across Ohio, West Virginia, western Pennsylvania and Indiana, with data center connectivity and backhaul services that span up to Chicago, IL. The company serves multiple Fiber-to-the-home markets in Ohio and has recently announced plans to build additional FTTH deployments in Greenfield, OH, Washington Court House, OH, Lancaster, OH, and Zanesville, OH, with expectations to expand beyond these markets to further its reach to homes and businesses across the region.
