New network will be the next open-access internet backbone, future-proofing nationwide connectivity
Houston, Texas – March 29, 2022 – 3Red8, a next-generation smart infrastructure company, today announces it is building the first open-access national fiber optic network to enable the technology of the future while connecting rural, tribal, and underserved communities along the routes to help close the digital divide. The high-capacity dark fiber network will stretch across the U.S. with the first phase provisioned in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina at the end of 2023, and the national route completed by the end of 2027.
3Red8’s national route will span 18 states, from coast to coast and from the Canadian border to the Gulf of Mexico. The new fiber optic network is designed to expand and scale to enable bandwidth-intensive applications of the future, including 5G/6G, autonomous vehicles, smart cities, smart agriculture, IoT, and EV charging stations.

3Red8 is partnering with Quanta Telecom, Schneider Electric, Dentons, EDJX, and Deloitte to build this disruptive, new solution to allow customers, partners, and the industry to benefit from an innovative approach that solves connectivity issues on a national scale.
