Vanu Partners Locally with ICSL; Deploys Leading Technology in Strategic Areas to Maximize Coverage on Behalf of a Leading Nigerian Mobile Network Operator
LEXINGTON, Mass., USA and NEW DELHI, INDIA – Feb. 28, 2022 – Vanu, Inc., a provider of equipment, tools and services that enable mobile network operators to profit by serving off-grid communities, today announced that it has deployed mobile network base stations on behalf of a leading Nigerian operator and that voice and data traffic over the network is currently active. Working locally with deployment partners at Information Connectivity Solutions Limited (ICSL), Vanu has installed, and will maintain, multiple solar-powered network base stations that will allow users in previously uncovered areas to access for the first time the limitless potential that cellular network connectivity and the Internet provide.
Vanu’s systems are specifically designed to be deployed and operated jointly with local partners in remote locations, using solar power to avoid the high costs, inconvenience and environmental damage of diesel-powered generators. These systems are easy and low cost to install, commission and maintain, and include a suite of services that can provide a turnkey solution from commercial feasibility and network design through operations, maintenance and support.
“Vanu’s technology is cost-effective, rugged, easily deployed and maintained and, most importantly, capable of delivering wireless coverage to the many uncovered communities of Nigeria,” said Yemi Oshodi, COO of ICSL. “Vanu’s equipment and its partner-friendly business model is a winning proposition for ICSL.”
The Vanu partner platform enables local technology providers to access new business opportunities and revenue streams generated by the successful deployment of innovative connectivity solutions across previously uncovered off-grid areas. By partnering with local companies, such as ICSL, Vanu is able to efficiently duplicate its entire deployment process across hundreds of planned sites, using trained, local technicians.
“We appreciate our local customers and our partners at ICSL for the opportunity to showcase our technology as part of the ongoing effort to connect the unconnected in rural Nigeria,” said Andrew Beard, CEO of Vanu, Inc. “Vanu is confident that our solution, combined with our partners, will have a significant impact on local populations as they gain access to mobile networks and the limitless potential that connectivity provides.”
