[Shenzhen, China, September 25, 2021] Today at HUAWEI CONNECT 2021, HUAWEI CLOUD announced a new ecosystem strategy that included a USD100 million investment in 2022 to upgrade the HUAWEI CLOUD Developer Platform. The new strategy includes MacroVerse, an all-new application platform as a service (aPaaS). Espousing the new Expertise as a Service model, MacroVerse tailors innovation to industry scenarios with on-demand access to expertise.
Mr. Kang Ning, President of Global Cloud Ecosystem of Huawei, said in his keynote speech, “HUAWEI CLOUD aspires to become the cloud foundation of the intelligent world. With our industry partners, we build and share in the MacroVerse aPaaS platform. Coupled with a Marketplace for enterprise application distribution, this platform will aggregate applications from all industries and unlock business potential, while serving tens of millions of developers.”
HUAWEI CLOUD’s new ecosystem strategy
HUAWEI CLOUD also plans to grow its partner and developer ecosystem in the following areas:
First, a powerful developer toolchain will boost developer experience and productivity thanks to enhanced IDE and no-code/low-code collaboration.
With an innovative IDE kernel and AI technology, Huawei CloudIDE provides smooth, efficient development on the cloud. It has become an important productivity tool for hundreds of thousands of developers. Two important Huawei platforms, AppCube and WeLink, are deeply integrated as gateways into the digital world. AppCube further optimizes no-code development, so that application development is no longer limited to professional developers. Business teams access AppCube via WeLink to enjoy an abundance of easier connections to HUAWEI CLOUD capabilities.
Second, a brand-new aPaaS platform hosts cloud services that represent the expertise shared by Huawei and its partners.
Third, transformation to the cloud and SaaS is accelerated by aggregating SaaS partner applications from different industries and supporting them E2E with funding and technology.
Last but not least, a Marketplace to distribute enterprise applications delivers the ultimate experience to both sellers and buyers. HUAWEI CLOUD also offers Marketplace as a service so customers can build their own application ecosystems. Currently, the Shanghai government is one such customer with its own Marketplace for digital city governance applications, accelerating digital transformation of this megacity.
Upgrading HUAWEI CLOUD Developer Program
In his speech, Mr. Kang Ning stressed the crucial importance of developers to the HUAWEI CLOUD ecosystem. HUAWEI CLOUD provides 13 types of cloud services, 128 kits, and over 30,000 APIs, plus 14 types of development tools and 5 learning and support platforms.
To better serve tens of millions of developers, HUAWEI CLOUD announced that it would invest USD100 million in 2022 to upgrade the HUAWEI CLOUD Developer Program in three ways.
First, upgraded scope covers any real-name authenticated enterprise developer, college developer, or individual developer.
Second, upgraded services add a developer knowledge base and dedicated technical support channels. Any development issue will be responded to in 12 hours and closed in 48 hours. Developer support engineers at over 100 HUAWEI CLOUD innovation centers around the world will be able to support developers face-to-face.
Third, upgraded benefits include privileged access to discounted cloud resources, tickets to developer events, training courses, certification exam vouchers, and more. HUAWEI CLOUD will offer cloud-native, AI, big data, mobile development, and IoT certifications.
Tailoring innovation to every scenario with HUAWEI CLOUD MacroVerse aPaaS
As industries dive deeper into digital transformation, HUAWEI CLOUD wishes to accelerate this trend. Mr. Fang Guowei, director of Cloud Portfolio Management of Huawei, announced the MacroVerse aPaaS platform. “MacroVerse aPaaS is a platform for all industries. With developers at its core, this one-stop, open platform aggregates capabilities from our partners from a wide range of industries and offers expertise as a service, empowering industry scenario-tailored innovation,” said Mr. Fang.
MacroVerse aPaaS aggregates 128 kits and over 20,000 APIs. Its architecture consists of the capability layer, market layer, and the workbench.
- The capability layer aggregates industry domain kits while packaging APIs, SDKs, and industry knowledge into the many capability kits offered on HUAWEI CLOUD Marketplace.
- At the market layer, the asset center helps partners monetize their digital assets by selling them as APIs/SDKs, industry data models, and industry AI algorithms.
- The workbench allows developers to harness multiple kits and quickly integrate different applications without a hitch.
According to Mr. Wang Yue, General Manager of HMS Core for Huawei’s Consumer Cloud Service, Huawei now also shares the global best practices of Huawei Mobile Services with customers and partners through MacroVerse aPaaS, which has aggregated capabilities from domains such as finance, e-commerce, interactive media, car travel, healthcare, and more. In the finance industry, MacroVerse aPaaS provides better security and privacy, enhanced experience, and AI innovation. For e-commerce, Huawei’s message push, AI, and AR capabilities give developers personalization functions while streamlining interactions. For car travel, Huawei provides maps and navigation, occupant safety, and an IoV content ecosystem. HUAWEI CLOUD also works with Sinohealth to provide end-to-end digital capabilities for the pharmaceutical industry, from R&D to production and retail.
In the near future, HUAWEI CLOUD will focus MacroVerse aPaaS on the industrial Internet, industrial software, city governance, public utilities, and Internet services. HUAWEI CLOUD invites partners from across industries to be part of the MacroVerse aPaaS program.
