NorthC customers will now be able to connect to all networks and companies available in the top 100 datacenters in Europe connected to the NL-ix network. And by using other NL-ix services, customers can connect easily and over a short and direct path to all other networks making up the Internet.
Both NorthC and NL-ix see The Rotterdam – The Hague region as strategic; growth of economic activities in this region have been above the national average over the last years. This region also has excellent opportunities to develop into a Smart Digital Region and to be leading in the Internet of Things, 5G, cloud and other digital innovations that need modern datacenters and fast and reliable ways to interconnect; the essential groundwork of our digital infrastructure.
Bart van Aanholt, Chief Commercial Officer at NorthC is elated about strengthening the cooperation: “Good and reliable connectivity with the outside world is essential for our customers. NorthC is always on the lookout for strong on-site partners that can deliver high-quality services to our customers. With the NL-ix connection, we can now further improve the service level that we can offer our Rotterdam customers. Currently, we are building out our Rotterdam capacity to 4.5MW but are, together with local partners like NL-ix, ready to facilitate further growth.”
Marien Keizer, Chief commercial officer at NL-ix adds:” I am proud we are working together with a large regional heavyweight as NorthC. Connecting NorthC in Rotterdam means we now have connected eight of the most important datacenters in the Rotterdam – The Hague region to the NL-ix fabric and the rest of the Internet. We are determined to play an important role in the development of this region by unlocking and fueling, together with partners like NorthC, the growing economic activity and by connecting networks and companies to our platform”.
Jointly, the users of the NL-ix platform in the Rotterdam – The Hague area generate 1.2 Tb/s of Internet traffic that is distributed over the NL-ix platform, the total connected capacity is 2.86 Tb/s. For a large part, this strong position can be attributed to the takeover of the Rotterdam Internet Exchange by NL-ix in 2018.
