Colt is expanding its IQ Network footprint to Oracle’s dual-region Cloud to continue to serve the growing Cloud connectivity requirements of enterprise and government organisations.
London, UK, 16 June 2021 – Colt Technology Services, a leading provider of agile, high bandwidth connectivity solutions and a member of Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN), today announced it is expanding its IQ Network footprint to become one of the first Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) FastConnect Partners to provide dedicated and on-demand access to Oracle Cloud via the new dual-region cloud in Newport, Wales.
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure FastConnect provides dedicated connectivity to Oracle Cloud services. OCI Newport, launched in October 2020, and is a second-generation, dual-region, government cloud hub and Oracle’s second commercial cloud region in the UK, offering enhanced resiliency and disaster protection as well as data sovereignty to public and private sector organisations in the UK and Ireland.
Colt began its relationship with Oracle three years ago and deepened its collaboration in 2020, allowing enterprises to take advantage of Colt’s 100Gbps optimised Colt IQ Network and market leading On Demand capabilities to connect to Oracle Cloud; supporting an optimal, end-to-end Cloud migration and adoption experience with OCI FastConnect.
This latest expansion of the high bandwidth and low latency Colt IQ Network makes Colt one of the first OCI FastConnect Partners to provide connectivity to the dual-region Cloud. Colt now offers a single point of contact for resilient cloud connectivity for organisations connecting to Oracle Cloud in the UK.
Colt takes a data centre agnostic approach to cloud connectivity and this latest announcement sees the organization continue to invest in the points of presence (PoPs) of its Cloud partners across the world. This means Colt can offer best-in-class, high bandwidth and on-demand cloud connectivity to any data centre on its global network.
Keri Gilder, CEO at Colt said: “We know there is a direct correlation between the success of cloud migration projects and connectivity, and this is going to become increasingly obvious as more mission critical workloads are migrated to the cloud over the next few years. As cloud connectivity capabilities become increasingly critical and complex to support cloud adoption strategies, Colt is committed to serving these requirements with a network that is as fast, flexible and reliable as the cloud itself. By pairing the high bandwidth, secure and intelligent Colt IQ Network with an enterprise cloud platform built on a heritage of reliability and trust, Colt and Oracle deliver a market leading end-to-end cloud experience.
“I’m thrilled to be expanding our relationship with Oracle with this latest extension in the UK. Colt connectivity to the dual-region Cloud is helping build world-class flexible infrastructure that will drive the future digital economy.” Gilder added.
Ross Brown, Vice President, Product Marketing, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, said: “The expanded collaboration between Colt and Oracle will enable more organisations to benefit from our new dual-region Cloud , which provides the resiliency, disaster recovery and data sovereignty needed by customers in the UK.”
This latest announcement brings Colt connectivity to a total of seven Oracle Cloud regions globally; London, Frankfurt, Zurich, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Osaka and Newport.
