COLUMBUS, Ohio – April 7, 2021 – The Southern Ohio Health Care Network (SOHCN) has awarded a five-year Master Service Agreement renewal to Horizon, a fiber-optic broadband company operating out of Columbus, Ohio. SOHCN serves more than 350 healthcare facilities operated by 18 different healthcare providers in Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky.
Horizon initially won the competitive bidding process in 2009 to build out a fiber network to 13 southern Ohio counties as part of the FCC Rural Health Care Pilot Program. In 2010, an additional 21 counties were added as part of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) Broadband Technology Opportunity Program. Now, the SOHCN Board has chosen to continue working with Horizon as one of the primary fiber broadband providers for their expanding network.
