Verizon wins 2021 network award season

By: Kyle Malady

Record-breaking wins from RootMetrics and JD Power are highlights of network performance recognition

2021 is off to a busy start for many of us, so you might have missed the lightning fast network award season that kicked off the year. While the reports came fast and furious, Verizon again led the way, securing wins and recognition while building on our established track record of success. Verizon was recognized by RootMetrics as the best overall wireless provider for the 15th consecutive time. J.D. Power named us the most awarded brand for J.D. Power Network Quality for the 26th consecutive time.

These are the best measures of network quality and customer satisfaction. These recognitions don’t happen by accident. The sustained success we’ve had in providing network services that our customers count on is a testament to the engineers and technicians who build and maintain our network. Their hard work and dedication is why we have the nation’s most awarded network.

These awards are further validation of our overall network strategy, including our 5G strategy and rollout plan. We’re at a critical moment of technology disruption and our 5G is the platform for 21st century innovation. Our focus continues to be on providing services that maximize the customer experience and make the most efficient use of our network investments.

In the past 12 months alone we expanded our 5G Ultra Wideband service to 64 US cities, 52 stadiums and arenas, and 11 airports with speeds of up to 4Gbps in some places. Additionally, we now offer 5G Home service in 13 markets, and expanded access to both our Fios service and our LTE Home Internet service to help keep customers connected for remote work and school.

We also launched 5G Nationwide in more than 2,700 US cities. The service covers more than 230 million people — more than two-thirds of the US population — and is made possible by Dynamic Spectrum Sharing, one of the most advanced network technologies available in the market.

During a seemingly endless string of hurricanes, wildfires, other natural disasters and an ongoing pandemic, our network held strong, serving our customers when they needed it most. Our commitment to reliability during these events means we go above and beyond to create multiple redundancies within our systems, use the latest technologies to maintain and repair sites as quickly as possible, and often deploy the most portable assets to ensure service is restored quickly.

As more customers take advantage of our 5G network in 2021, the Verizon Network Team will continue to deliver the best network performance and experience. Awards are nice but we’re not satisfied. As we have throughout our history, Verizon will continue to deploy the most advanced technologies and the highest quality networks with the best reliability for our customers. And we will continue to pull together stakeholders across multiple industries to develop a dynamic and exciting ecosystem to take advantage of this advanced technology. Our industry knows 5G will change the world and Verizon is committed to leading that charge with urgency and purpose.
