During our Interconnection Summit North America edition broadcast earlier this week, we announced our 26th and 27th Internet Exchanges – DE-CIX Chicago and DE-CIX Richmond.
DE-CIX Chicago will serve networks and enterprises with interconnection services in US Northeast and beyond. The city is home to variety of industries and a one of the biggest hubs in the world for data traffic.
In Richmond, Virginia, our new interconnection platform leverages the market’s existing IX, the Richmond Virginia Internet Exchange (RVA-IX). The nearby Virginia Beach is a landing station for subsea cables from Europe and South America, and Richmond is an international hub for finance, telecommunications, transport, and education – and home to a variety of Fortune 1000 companies.

The Chicago and Richmond exchanges will help us to take the interconnection ecosystem in North America to another level. Together, the DE-CIX Internet Exchanges in Chicago, Richmond, New York, and Dallas create the largest carrier and data center neutral interconnection ecosystem in North America. These interconnected exchanges offer a low latency path between the four cities – and an instant interconnection with hundreds of networks.
